Entry Level Jobs in Hotel Sales Are Lucrative and Offer Rapid Advancement Opportunities

If you are looking for a job you may want to consider a sales manager job in the hospitality industry. Many people consider hotel sales one of the best jobs out there. What's interesting is that not many people know these jobs exist.
The hotel business offers great surroundings to work in and around. They often offer free meals to employees, you have the opportunity to entertain customers at the hotel restaurant and lounge, and many hotels will ask you to entertain clients at fun events like basketball games or at the golf course. Rapid advancement is available. Many sales positions advance to Director of Sales and General Manager positions within 3-6 years.
Hotels will hire entry level sales reps as long as you have a good understanding of the business. Hotels don't like to spend valuable time training candidates; therefore, it's a good idea to research the field and get a good understanding of the business before you interview. Don't go to an interview and expect your previous sales experience in another field to carry you through the interview. It won't work.
It's also not necessary to have previous sales experience, but if you have some, this will be an advantage for you. Be sure and make your resume sales oriented and place any hotel certificate programs you have at the top of your resume so they do not get overlooked.

Entry level sales positions are landed by those people that have a passion for sales, enjoy inside sales as well as outside sales careers, and understand the hotel business. At the interview, be sure and demonstrate your knowledge of the hotel sales manager position you are applying for. Demonstrate that you understand how to land group corporate accounts, SMERF business, IBT markets, demand generators, sales blitzes, and so on. Do your homework!
